The Carbon Steel Plate is made up of an alloy of iron and carbon. It is one of the most commonly used materials, which contains a wide range of elements like chromium, nickel, and vanadium in its chemical composition. Depending on the material content of the chemical composition, the Carbon Steel Sheet can be of various grades and their properties would also vary accordingly. The mechanical structure of the low carbon steel plate makes it ideal for general purpose tooling as they have a high machinability. They also have exceptional welding properties.

The 1018 and 1020 plates are available in both cold drawn and hot roll forms, however the cold drawn ones are more in demand. The 1020 steels can be described as the lesser manufactured version of the 1018 grade. There is a slight variation in their chemical composition, which also impacts their mechanical properties. The 1018 steels is slightly stronger and harder than the 1020 grade. However, 1020 comes with higher machinability and hence is preferred by several industries.
